Christina Merl, founder and director of TalkShop.cc, holds a PhD in translation science and communities of practice from the University of Vienna. Christina is a CoP consultant, university of applied science lecturer, and language trainer. Her core business is facilitating social learning and knowledge sharing processes in organizations. Christina is a jury member of the IELA Award and has developed the innovative online service Basecamp .
Gabriela Dorn-Scheruga, director of LBCnet Institute, holds an MA in translation science from the University of Vienna and has specialized in intercultural communication studies in her professional life. TalkShop.cc and Gabriela Dorn-Scheruga cooperate on various intercultural communication projects and hold the specifically developed intercultural assessment center together.
Sonja Jauernig holds an MA in translation science from the University of Vienna. Sonja’s main skills and interests include translation analysis, assessment of communication skills, writing, and foreign language teaching. She is co-responsible for TalkShop /Basecamp competency assessment and for implementing TalkShopAfrica, the new educational program for Africa.
James Mowlam, senior partner of TalkShop, holds a BA (Hons.) degree in Fine Arts from Winchester School of Art. Since moving to Vienna 8 years ago, James has moved into the field of Business English and English language training. In his TalkShop seminars and classes, he concentrates on social English and small talk, cross-cultural communication, presentations, meetings, negotiations and team building.
Charles Kirchofer holds a PhD in war studies from King's College London, an MA in international relations, and a BA in linguistics. Charles is American and has specialized in sociolinguistic and pragmatic aspects of foreign language teaching. A true world traveler, he lived in Bonn, Vienna and London. From Boston, Massachusetts, where he currently lives, he provides online language coaching, translation and proof-reading services for TalkShop.
Erick Marandu was born in the Rombo District of the Kilimanjaro region in Tanzania. He holds a certificate of Advanced English from St. Francis College and is currently studying at the Mzumbe University, Tanzania's most renowned university, where he takes a Bachelor of Public Administration and Management. Erick works as a local coach for TalkShop Africa in cooperation with KIRSEC.
Fabian Dembski studied architecture at the Technical University of Vienna. He considers visual media an essential part of communication. Accordingly, Fabian has specialized in creating and designing online learning environments and offline learning environments for TalkShop.cc and is co-responsible for the graphic illustration and design of TalkShop Africa - the new educational program for Africa.
